About the Club
Real Madrid, in full Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, byname Los Blancos (Spanish: “the White”) due to the all-white uniforms, is one of the world’s best-known teams, with fans in many countries.
Real Madrid grew out of Football Club Sky, a team formed in Madrid in 1897. On March 6, 1902, the Madrid Football Club was officially founded by a group of fans.
After the war, Santiago Bernabéu Yeste took over the presidency of the club and started building a brand-new stadium, which will bear his name and become the official stadium of Real Madrid.
In 1966, Real Madrid won its sixth Champions League with a team of Spanish “hippies” who rivalled the Beatles in popularity on the European continent.
From the late 1990s Real Madrid spent enormous sums on signing some of the world’s most famous players to the club, known as galácticos (“superstars”), they included David Beckham, Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Real has won a total over 10 Champions League titles, more than any other team and more than 30 Liga, more than any other Spanish teams.
