About the Club

  • Chelsea Football Club was founded on March 10, 1905, by Henry Augustus Mears at The Rising Sun pub (now The Butcher's Hook) in Fulham, London. The club was established to occupy the Stamford Bridge stadium, which Mears had acquired earlier.
  • Chelsea secured their first league title in the 1954–55 season under manager Ted Drake, who modernized the team and laid the groundwork for future achievements.
  • After decades of fluctuating fortunes, Chelsea experienced a resurgence in the 1990s with the arrival of players like Gianfranco Zola and Ruud Gullit, winning the FA Cup in 1997 and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1998.
  • In 2003, Russian businessman Roman Abramovich purchased the club, investing heavily and ushering in a golden era with multiple domestic and international titles, including UEFA Champions League victories in 2012 and 2021.
  • In 2022, a consortium led by Todd Boehly acquired Chelsea, marking the beginning of a new era with renewed ambitions and a promising young squad.
  • Chelsea FC, known as "The Blues," stands as one of England's most successful clubs and remains the only London team to have won the UEFA Champions League.
