About the Club

• The football club AS Roma was founded in 1927 from a merger of three smaller Roman clubs : Fortitudo-Pro Roma SGS, Roman FC and SS Alba-Audace. Lazio refused to be part of the new club, leading to the intense “Derby della Capitale” rivalry between Roma and Lazio.
• They won their first Scudetto in 1942 but faced struggles post-war, including relegation in 1951.
• The 60s brought cup success, while the 70s were barren until a resurgence under Nils Liedholm in the 80s.
• Francesco Totti played a key role in Roma's third Scudetto win in 2001.
• Despite being a strong team internationally, Roma has yet to win a major European Cup. They came close in 1984, losing to Liverpool in the final.
• In 2021, Roma won the inaugural UEFA Conference League by defeating Feyenoord 1-0 in the final.
